Peter May, together with his wife, writer Janice
Hally, takes four weeks away from his writing each year
to give Creative Writing Courses in the beautiful French
market town of St Cere.
"Kick Start Your Project" is a 7-day Course,
during which writers undertake an intensive series of workshops
and tutorials interspersed with some of the finest food and wine
the region has to offer. Bed, breakfast and four-course gourmet
evening meals at the aptly named Hotel Victor Hugo are included
in the price. The Courses which began in 2002 are gaining a reputation
around the world, with participants travelling from as far afield
as Thailand, Canada, and the USA as well as Switzerland, Belgium,
Italy, Ireland and the UK.
Writers arrive with the germ of an idea, and after 7 days
they leave with their characters developed and story structure
mapped out, equipped to write their novel, screenplay, play or
TV series. May and Hally strictly limit the numbers on each Course
so that each writer gets the maximum amount of individual attention.
